This photo's story

Even in a short trip to Venice for a scientific conference, I remember making the time to visit Murano - and being so disappointed that the glass-making museum was shut, I made time to come back to the island again that same trip.

It's a beautiful island worth making a return trip to, with its colourful, peaceful canals winding through the city and a glass shop for every other building. The demonstration at the glass-making factory most certainly will not disappoint, either.

This view came from one of our walks across Murano, where the island revealed itself through repetition and calm. It's the kind of place that stays defined by its tranquility long after you've left it behind.
