If I ever returned to Santorini, I probably wouldn't pick the peak of summer to do the Fira-to-Oia trail.

Though should you ever find yourself in the island in the heat, make sure you bring a bottle or two of water. Still, the excursion all the way to Oia was absolutely worth it - it's such a beautiful town, and the view along the entire trip is something that has to be seen to be believed.

The town appears gradually, its white buildings pressed into the cliff, the sea opening out beside it. As the light softens towards the evening, the view lingers.

Less dramatic than enduring, and incredibly difficult to leave behind.
